The last few years have seen a marked increase of interest in the live streaming of key life events, particularly funerals. And late 2016 saw a flurry of articles on the subject, including broadsheet press such as The Guardian. Services specifically dedicated to funeral live streaming have sprung up across the country, and undertakers have begun to offer it as an add-on option.

Streaming Tank have also started to receive interest in these events. We delivered a full service webcast of a funeral ceremony for the first time in Autumn 2016. A discrete onsite crew of 2 captured video and audio, using LiveU backpacks to stream the feed back to our MCR. From there, we encoded the signal, and distributed it via a global CDN to a purpose built microsite. The family asked us also to include images of the deceased and a downloadable Order of Service for overseas family and friends to view.
