Discussing the progression and promotion of Music Artists
Chris Dabbs, director at Streaming Tank, needs your vote for a special OPENMIC session at Midem 2014
The Midem festival for February 2014, hosted in the Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France, is running a new event this year called the ‘OPENMIC’, a brand new Speaker Contest and Streaming Tank co-founder and director Chris Dabbs is due to feature on one of the panels if the entry he is associated with succeeds in the current round of voting.
Chris has been selected by Yvette Chivers of Beats Foundation, providers of content for events and festival streaming, alongside representatives from Secret Garden Party, Bloom.fm and Psonar to discuss aspects of live event audio and visual streaming as well as commercial streaming services.
During the discussion the panel will look at the huge potential and various options for music artists to take advantage of within digital music streaming. There will also be on-going debate over the benefits to artists, events, labels and even lawyers, with the cross section of industry panellists putting forward the pros and cons with the emphasis on an open discussion.
The Midem festival itself is the leading International business event for the music ecosystem and is a central gathering point for music makers, brands, talents and cutting edge technologies to come together. In 2013 there were 6,400 participants from 75 countries representing 3,000 companies, 450 artists and 350 journalists. The event also hosted 150 conferences, 50 gigs, 35 national pavilions and 1,350 exhibiting companies.
Although the session proposed by Yvette, due to feature Chris from Streaming Tank, is currently doing well in the voting at the moment, it still needs support to ensure it goes ahead.
The session is titled ‘Audio and Visual Streaming: The Progression and Promotion of Music Artists’ and you can easily add your vote by following the above link – the support is greatly appreciated and Streaming Tank will endeavour to provide updates on the session at the time, if it goes ahead and you cannot attend Midem in person.
As the session description puts it: ‘Streaming has evolved over the years into a complex web of options and methods for delivering content over the internet…Knowing how to make the most of your content can be confusing. Still waters run deep – let’s see if streaming can indeed become mainstream’.
