Leading online video production and streaming specialists, Streaming Tank has joined forces with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a bid to bring classical music into Britain’s classrooms.
The streaming media specialists have produced a Web TV solution for the first of the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s BrightSparks concerts, which was broadcast from London’s Barbican centre and utilised Streaming Tank’s video production services such as filming, vision mixing and editing.
The BrightSparks events are a new addition to the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s education programme, which has been running since 1987 and reaches in exccess of 15,000 children across some 500 schools each year.
The LPO’s education programme includes both schools concerts and a series of workshops led by musicians from the orchestra, whose aim is to introduce children of all ages to classical music and the diverse range of instruments which make up a philharmonic orchestra.
The concerts and workshops are also supported by teachers’ sessions. Held before each concert, these give the teachers an insight into the concert and the repertoire, which they can then relay to their classes. A teachers’ pack is also supplied, including comprehensive information and range of activities linked to the concert and curriculum.
A spokesperson from Streaming Tank commented:
“We’re very pleased to be able to work closely with a national institution such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The London Philharmonic Orchestra’s education programme is an excellent way of getting children interested in classical music and we hope to be involved on the next batch of Brightsparks concerts in 2009.”
