Streaming Tank stream Mercury Prize ‘2011 Albums of the Year’ Announcement live onto the internet

The Barclaycard Mercury Prize ‘2011 Albums of the Year’ shortlist was announced this week, and live video streaming specialist Streaming Tank was on hand to ensure that people around the world were able to view the event live on Facebook.

The announcement, made on the 19th of July at 11.30am from the Hospital Club in London, was hosted by television presenter Lauren Lavern and highlights are available to view on the Barclaycard – Mercury Prize Facebook page.  The event also featured some live musical performances, including Anna Calvi and Gwilym Simcock. 

In all 12 albums have made the shortlist and they are:

PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
Tinie Tempah - Disc-Overy

The Awards show will take place on the 6th of September at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and will feature incredible live performances from the shortlisted artists.  Although the event is traditionally by invitation only, Barclaycard will also be running a competition on their Mercury Awards Facebook page from the 26th July for 1 lucky person and 7 of their friends to experience the event, with the winners also sharing a table with Huey Morgan from the Fun Lovin’ Criminals.

The Video production for the live feed was done by the Hospital Club, with the Facebook app developed by Dare Digital, however the live encoding, bandwidth and live web interface management was all done by Streaming Tank.
