Streaming Tank go straight to ‘Plan B’ for Ballatine’s new innovative project

Live video streaming specialist Streaming Tank is currently working on an innovative new campaign for Ballatine’s whisky inspired by the brand’s strapline ‘leave an impression’.

The project, entitled ‘Plan B (or Plan Ballatine’s)’ using the concept of a human API, was created by leading agency Work Club and involves a series of live streams onto Facebook of several artistic people at work, with the first one, of a tattooist K.A.R.L having already been completed on the 16th June 2011 in Paris, France.

The four hour live stream into Ballatine’s Facebook page allowed users to interact with K.A.R.L directly via live chat and discuss or make decisions on his behalf about all aspects of his work (including what colours he should use), as well as watching him apply a tattoo onto one of his customers, all from his point of view.

The event proved to be a remarkable success, with one user commenting that it was the ‘Best event seen on fb…’ and another following up with ‘That was a pretty spectacular thing to watch. Karl & Marco were AWESOME!’  Even better for Ballatine’s was the news that they had reached over 100,000 ‘Likes’ on Facebook, so the event couldn’t have been better timed.

To achieve the realistic viewpoint Streaming Tank deployed an RF camera on the Tattoo artists head, directed so the user could see exactly the same things as he could.  The RF was then linked to a receiver and transmitted and onto a vision mixer.  A secondary camera, with operator, followed Karl from behind to get some close up shots and cover anything else which may have been of interest.

High quality audio was then added, before the images and sound were embedded and sent to the hardware encoders. This was then transmitted in flash via an internet connection through the CND and onto the player that sat on the Ballatine’s Facebook page, which had been specially developed to also receive Facebook messages and voting.

The end result was a successful live video stream to begin a range of similar events, which includes an upcoming one of an ice sculptor at work; something which promises to be as spectacular as it is beautiful.  For more information please visit StreamingTank.com, or call James Wilkinson on +44 (0) 20 3327 1732.
