Streaming Tank are nominated for some ‘Mega’ awards

Once again the ‘Starbucks Love Project’ is proving in hindsight to have been an exceptional project for live streaming specialist Streaming Tank to have worked on, as they have recently received another nomination for an award, this time at the MediaGuardian Innovation Awards, better known as the ‘Mega’s’.

The ‘Mega’ awards are an annual event and this year will be hosted on the 24th March by the National Media Museum and the Science Museum, Exhibition Road, London.  The ceremony will be an opportunity not just for the nominees to win awards, but for guests to enjoy an evening celebrating cutting edge digital communications and rule changing technological innovations.

There are two overall categories within the awards structure, with each having sub-categories making up the awards themselves.  The Starbucks Love Project is up for the ‘Campaigning’ award within the larger Digital Communications categories.

The Mega awards describe the project perfectly; ‘In support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Starbucks invited musicians in 156 countries to sing "All You Need Is Love," at exactly the same time.’  They also quite rightly point out that it was done on behalf of a client, the charity RED.

James Wilkinson, Director at Streaming Tank commented on the award nomination:

‘It has been a fantastic 12 months for Streaming Tank and the awards we have won or been nominated for recently are simply the icing on the cake.  The Starbucks Love Project was just one of many which we worked on successfully in 2010, and our hard working team deserve praise for all their efforts.’

‘However, it is great that such a worthy cause is continuing to receive the attention it deserves and we must not lose focus on why we did the project in the first place.  Whether we win or lose, we must remember the main reason for the event was to raise awareness about the plight of AIDS in Africa, and hopefully through this medium we are continuing to do that.’

Streaming Tank are also nominated for 2 other awards concerning the Starbucks Love Project, at the Revolution Awards on 14th April, to add to numerous ones they won in 2010 for both this project and others. I guess if Streaming Tank receiving the accolades in this manner is what helps to keep the awareness levels high, then long may the nominations continue.
