Live Video Streaming Brings the World’s Technology Experts and Education Ministers Together

Video Streaming experts Streaming Tank were recently responsible for delivering key speeches from the 2009 Learning & Technology World Forum to education ministers and technology experts from around the world.  The week long event’s main theme is ‘next generation learning’ and focused on bringing cutting edge technology and education together, in order to best prepare today’s academic generation for becoming tomorrow’s workforce.

The event also saw the announcement of three of the worlds most influential companies collaborating on a multi sector research project.  Microsoft, Intel and Cisco systems plan to back a new research project which will involve multiple sectors.  This project aims to bring governments and businesses into the global educational arena, where they can influence the way future generations access and benefit from technology in education.

Streaming Tank provided the live video stream, which broadcast the key speeches from the event, via the internet, to all corners of the globe.  Key speeches were delivered by Becta, the government’s agency on supporting technology in education, the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The Forum drew participation from over 60 countries and attendees represented over two thirds of the world’s population.

The forum built on the success of the Moving Young Minds World Ministerial seminar which was hosted for the first time in 2004 and has grown in influence over the last 5 years.  The initial objective was to share and discuss national experiences regarding information and communication technology in education and to establish links between participating countries.

By drawing together ministers, policy makers and practitioners from around the world, as well as involving industry leaders such as Microsoft, Intel & Cisco enables all interested parties to enter into a dialogue where they can discuss their experiences of information technology in learning environments across the world.  This dialogue will pave the way for greater collaboration between industry leaders, governments and education officials in the coming years.
