Overview

On 22nd March 2011, Streaming Tank were asked by O2 to live stream a conference from their head office in Slough, live and online. The conference, entitled 'Digital Confidence', brought together stakeholders and policymakers to dicuss the future for the protection of privacy and children online.

The conference, introduced by Telefonica O2 UK CEO Ronan Dunne, was streamed live onto the O2 website, and incorporated social networking sites to allow the online audience the ability to interact with the event, asking questions to the panel representing companies such as Facebook, NSPCC Childline, and The Information Commissioner's Office.

Solution

Streaming Tank not only provided the live streaming logistics to enable the event to be streamed live and online, but also helped integrate a comment widget into the page.

Multiple hardware encoders were used to encode primary and backup streams of multiple bit rates which were broadcast live to a worldwide audience.

Streaming Tank's adaptive bandwidth detection technology monitored the connection speed of each viewer, delivering the appropriate quality of stream to help ensure a smooth viewing experience.

Streaming Tank also overcame internal firewall and proxy server restrictions by encoding and broadcasting the live content through RTMPT procols.

Result

The O2 Digital Confidence conference was broadcast live to a worldwide audience of consumers and industry specialists interested in what the future held for ensuring that privacy and children were protected.

Streaming Tank's hardware encoding systems bypassed a restricting proxy server and delivered a constant stream for the event.
