Rihanna Concert
Project Objectives
Streaming Tank were brought in by creative agency R/GA London to facilitate the live video streaming logistics behind a Nokia sponsored Rihanna concert from the Brixton Academy, London.
Streaming Tank were tasked with streaming multiple camera angles live and online from the venue, as well as sending out a live mobile stream for Nokia mobile phones users. Online viewers were then able to pick which camera angle they wanted to watch the live concert from.
Solution
Streaming Tank devised a method of daisy chaining multiple hardware encoders to lessen the load of sending out over 20 live streams at varying bit rates and formats, live and online.
With multiple vision mixing desks outputing live content from a number of perspectives around the venue, online viewers were given the option to select a particular camera angle to watch the live performance from.
Nokia contract holders were also able to view the live performance on their mobile handset.
Result
The project utilised live video streaming technology to enable both brands to reach a worldwide audience of both Nokia customers and Rihanna fans alike. The exclusive event was available to view live and online, as a joint marketing initiative between Nokia and Rihanna, whose recently released album went platinum as a result of the additional exposure in the months following the event.
Streaming Tank's experience of managing complex live encoding and streaming procedures allowed for a unique and ground-breaking project to be realised.
