Think Mobile Live Stream
Project Overview
Streaming Tank were asked to live stream the Google Think Mobile events onto the YouTube Live streaming platform, The Brand Republic website and live mobile streaming onto both iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices.
The first event took was at Kings Place in Central London with key speakers including:
Rory Sutherland – Vice-President of Ogilvy
Charles Dunstone – Founder and CEO of Carphone Warehouse
and
Ian Carrington – Mobile Advertising Sales Director – Google
They discussed the mobile global industry, the future of mobile, and why marketers need to reshape their strategies to reach the always-connected, “mobilized” consumer.
The rise of the mobile web represents one of the most dramatic consumer behavior transformations in history. Today’s smartphone users are searching, browsing and “app-ing” more, and the pace of this growth is only increasing. What does this mean for today’s and tomorrow’s marketers?
Solution
Streaming Tank liaised with Google/YouTube for streaming onto the YouTube Live platform. Streaming Tank also liaised with Brand Republic to create an iFrame page with a server side countdown to the event. This rolled over to a live streaming player at the start of the event.
A separate landing page site was also created for Google to promote the event with links to the YouTube Live site and to the mobile sites.
For the mobile sites, a Streaming Tank player was created to sniff the users platform for Android or iOS and then player the correct streaming format for that platform. This also contained a countdown to event server side script.
Video production and internet connectivity were handled by Kings Place.
The audio and video feeds where sent to Streaming Tank which was then embedded into the video SDI feed then split out to multiple encoders handling primary and backup flash streaming, and iOS streaming.
All video was delivered through the Akamai network through Streaming Tank.
Result
Another Streaming Tank success with further talks with Google / YouTube
