London Fashion Week 2010/11
Project Objectives
In February 2010, Streaming Tank was contracted by the British Fashion Council to enable 25 catwalk shows from the British Fashion Councils tent at London Fashion Week to be streamed live and online. Live video streaming the shows was to become an integral part of the British Fashion Council’s recently launched Digital Schedule, giving online viewers a front row seat at the weeklong event. Streaming Tank were chosen to make this possible.
Solution
Streaming Tank provided the logistics and technical infrastructure to enable every show at the BFC Show Space tent to be streamed live and to a global audience. 25 live shows were streamed over the course of the 6 day event. Streaming Tank also put in place a logistical structure which enabled designers to embed their own live show content into their website, but at the same time, prevented them from viewing any further content other than their own show.
Result
Live streaming the shows was a huge step forward for the British Fashion Council’s newly launched Digital Schedule, which has been created to fuse fashion and film over a digital platform. Live video streaming is the pinnacle of this movement, which has helped to substantiate the Council’s position at the forefront of international fashion – making British fashion accessible to a worldwide audience.
As a result of the project's success, Streaming Tank have since worked alongside the British Fashion Council at the Spring/Summer 2011 collection in September last year, streaming a further 26 shows live and online in September.
